After a good performance in Tuesday’s Republican Candidate’s Debate, former Governor of Florida, Jeb Bush, was fired up about his chances and willing to take some swings at fellow Republicans–Donald Trump and Chris Christie. He also took some shots at possible Democrat opponents–Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Bush feels that his campaign is gaining momentum due to the endorsement of Senator Lindsey Graham, and he is encouraged by the size and enthusiasm of the Bush campaign events. When speaking about the GOP frontrunner, Donald Trump, Jeb Bush is hoping that the voters will turn away from a man who can only promise them that they can fix America’s problems. Governor Bush feels that eventually the voters will realize that they need a leader like himself with a track record of using conservative principals on a state level to turn around problems that we are now facing on a national level. Bush is willing to give Trump credit for being dynamic, entertaining, and smart. However, he listed a number of reasons why the voters should question whether Donald Trump is an authentic conservative. Governor Bush pointed out that Trump has flip flopped on several social issues and has used questionable business practices. One example that Bush cited had to do with Trump’s attempt to use imminent domain to seize the property of an elderly woman, so he could level her house to make a limousine parking lot near his casino in Atlantic City. On foreign policy, Governor Bush feels that some of Trump’s recommendations were more in line with Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
Governor Bush also called for Governor Christie to “take ownership of his record.” He accused the New Jersey governor of giving support to a variety of liberal actions, such as the appointment of liberal Justice Sotomayor, restricting gun rights, and the expansion of Medicare in the Garden State. In contrast, Jeb Bush revealed that he has an A+ rating by the NRA and stopped the expansion of Medicare in Florida.
Jeb Bush feels that his economic plan will help to jumpstart the economy and thereby help revitalize the middle class. When he was asked about Hillary Clinton’s pledge to not raise taxes on the middle income earners, Governor Bush gave his opinion that Hillary Clinton is not trustworthy. His economic plan has several components. First, to promote economic growth he would reform the tax code by simplifying the regulations, lowering it to three rates, lowering the actual rates. He also wants to double the exemptions, so that people will have more disposable income. Bush is also calling for lowering the corporate tax rates and changing regulations so that it will allow businesses to modernize their capital equipment. Bush criticized the Clinton and Sanders plans as being for more government, more regulations, and more class warfare. Bush believes that these are the policies which caused this mess.
