Fresh from the announcement of his candidacy for president in Burlington, VT, Senator Sanders launched his campaign with enthusiastic appearances in New Hampshire. The senator believes that income inequality will be a major issue in the 2016 campaign. Sanders claims that the American people want to know how the wealthiest country in the history of the world can have 1% of the population earning 99% of the new income that has been generated? Also, voters want to know why so many good paying jobs left places like New Hampshire and have gone to China and Vietnam? That’s why Sanders has joined the fight against the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal. In the past, he has opposed NAFTA and CAFTA because he feels that these trade agreements have benefited multinational corporations at the expense of the American worker. As evidence, Senator Sanders pointed out that since 2001 over 60,000 US factories have closed and millions of jobs have been lost. Sanders believes that we need to transform our trade policies, so they will benefit American workers.
Senator Sanders plans to run a national campaign and will be leaving for Iowa and South Carolina. Unlike Hillary Clinton, Sanders plans to be available for questions from the media and the voters.
