The New Hampshire Division 1 High School Basketball semifinals take place starting tonight (March 5) in Exeter, NH when the Girls tip things off. #3 seed Londonderry will take on #2 seed Pinkerton beginning at 5:30. The undefeated #1 seed Bedford will square off against #4 seed Portsmouth. The winners will move on to play in the finals at UNH in Durham on Saturday.
Bedford has been an absolute juggernaut this year. They are 19-0 and their average margin of victory is over 40 points! In fact, their closest game of the year was when they played Portsmouth earlier this season, winning 56-50. Their next closest margin of victory in any other game was 30! Amazing!
Pinkerton has one loss on the year – to Bedford – and they match up against a Londonderry squad that has only two losses on the year – to Bedford and Pinkerton.
In Boys action, #3 seed Nashua North will take on #2 seed Bedford on Wednesday night (March 6) beginning at 5:30 at Exeter High School. Then #5 Trinity will take the court against #1 seed Pinkerton.
Pinkerton has dominated all year, losing only one game to Dover back in January. They beat Trinity by 20 points when they squared off a couple of weeks ago. Jackson Marshall powers the Pinkerton attack by averaging over 35 points a game, including a 41point outburst in their quarterfinal win over Nashua South. Jackson has now scored over 2,000 career points and is believed to be only the second player in New Hampshire Division 1 boys hoops history to accomplish the feat.
The Boys winners will face of on Sunday at UNH.
The Sports Machine with Slim will be on the scene taking in the semifinals action both nights this week at Exeter High School. We will talk about the games on the show weekdays between 10-11am on WKXL Radio (101.9FM in Manchester/103.9FM in Concord) and NHTalkRadio.com!
