Senate President Peter Bragdon (R-Milford) joined NH Now host Chris Ryan and Southern New Hampshire University professor Dean Spiliotes for Pints and Politics at The Barley House in downtown Concord.
The three discussed Governor Hassan’s budget plans, gun control and the future of the GOP in New Hampshire.
Bragdon acknowledged that messaging was part of the reason for GOP setbacks in November and said that although there were down-ticket difficulties from Mitt Romney’s Presidential candidacy, Maggie Hassan actually outperformed Barack Obama at the polls in New Hampshire.
“We really need to take a look at things,” said Bragdon. “Sometimes (Republicans) gave (Democrats) the rope they used to hang us with.”
Bragdon pushed for party unity in the interview and also said fundraising needs to improve.
